The participation of prominent clubs in the Indian Super League (ISL) like Kerala Blasters, Mumbai City, Chennaiyin FC, and Odisha FC in the Super Cup remains unclear. The Super Cup matches are scheduled from October 25 to November 22, 2025. The All India Football Federation (AIFF) has urged all 13 ISL clubs and the top three teams from the I-League to confirm their participation soon.

However, many clubs have not started their pre-season training due to concerns about financial and operational security, leading to delays in player salaries. Reports from the Times of India indicate that at least two clubs might only participate if they receive more clarity on the tournament’s structure, financial issues, and broadcasting rights.

Uncertainty regarding new commercial and financial structures is a primary concern among club executives. Kerala Blasters pointed out that without a clear understanding of broadcasting revenue and operational costs, they cannot prepare a budget for the season.

Super Cup winners can qualify for the AFC Champions League playoff. However, this opportunity alone may not be sufficient for clubs facing financial and operational challenges.
