Kannur: The Kannur Warriors football club has started training with the goal of winning the title in the Super League’s first season. Since September 1, training has been conducted at the Kannur Police Parade Ground under the guidance of head coach Manolo Sánchez from Spain and assistant coach Shafiq Hassan.
Working together in the previous season has made things easier for the team. The head coach and foreign players are expected to join the team soon. Among the standout players from the first season who will return are Asier Gomez, Luvsamb, and Adrian Sardinero, along with Nidal Sayed, who impressed in the Forza Ketchi team.
New foreign players are expected to join for the center-back and striker positions, though their names have not yet been announced. All Indian players are currently training with the Kannur Warriors, along with ten players selected from a game-changing three-day training program. The final team will be trimmed down to 25 players.
Matches will begin in the first week of October. The home games for Kannur Warriors will take place at the Jawaharlal Stadium in Kannur. In the first season, the team did not have its own home stadium and shared the Kozhikode Corporation Stadium with Calicut FC.
