Leyton Orient is in a tough spot, close to the relegation zone in League One.
Port Vale is at the bottom of the table with 21 points, while there is only a three-point gap between 16th place Blackpool and 23rd place Northampton.
Orient is currently in 18th place with 32 points, just one point above the relegation zone.
They will head into the second half of the season without one of their central midfielders.
20-year-old Jack Moorhouse has completed his loan from Manchester United and is returning to the club. He mainly played in cup matches.
Although Moorhouse made some key appearances in League One during December, he mostly came on as a substitute in league matches.
Leyton Orient confirmed his departure on their official website, stating: “Midfielder Jack Moorhouse has returned to parent club Manchester United after an agreement was reached between both clubs.”
Orient manager Richie Wellens commented on Moorhouse’s return, saying: “Jack is undoubtedly a very talented footballer, and I think our fans have seen that in flashes this season.”
He added: “Given the situation we currently find ourselves in, we thought it may limit his game time. We have been very open with Manchester United about this.
“We value our relationship with them, and with him returning, we can bring someone else in to fill the space in the squad.”
This marks the end of Moorhouse’s first loan experience, which is important for the development of young players.
With the deadline day now passed, he will rejoin Travis Binnion’s Under-21 squad.
