Argentina’s captain, Lionel Messi, has hinted at the possibility of playing in the 2026 World Cup, sparking renewed hope among fans.

In an interview with NBC Nightly News, the 38-year-old player expressed his desire to play for his country again but mentioned he would make a final decision next year. He noted that playing in another World Cup would be incredible, but his participation will depend on his physical condition during Inter Miami’s pre-season training next year.

Messi stated that he feels inspired to play again for the national team after leading Argentina to victory in the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.

He mentioned that defending the title would be a dream, but acknowledged that age and fitness will play crucial roles in his decision.

Currently, under coach Lionel Scaloni, Argentina is performing well and sits comfortably in World Cup qualifying matches. Messi continues to excel in Major League Soccer, playing a key role in Argentina’s plans.
