In May, Al-Hilal attempted to sign the Liverpool player, but Liverpool rejected their £150m offer.

Salah has only one year left on his contract, and the situation has changed. Former Liverpool director Michael Edwards has returned as Fenway Sports Group’s CEO of football and likely wants to avoid losing Salah without compensation.

If Al-Hilal makes a significant offer, Liverpool may consider it, as this summer could be their last opportunity to gain something before his contract expires.

Salah’s contract limits the number of clubs that can realistically sign him, but Al-Ittihad is able to, especially after Karim Benzema’s departure.

According to Saudi Arabian media outlet WinWin, Salah is Al-Ittihad’s preferred option to replace Benzema. The club has been monitoring him and is expected to reach out to Liverpool soon.

Earlier, we mentioned Al-Ittihad and suggested that Liverpool consider Moussa Diaby. The former Aston Villa winger was close to joining Inter, but the deal did not materialize.

If discussions take place between Liverpool and Al-Ittihad regarding Salah, a player swap could be on the table.

Why it might be time for Liverpool to part ways with Mo Salah

No matter how Salah’s time at Anfield concludes, he has already established himself as one of Liverpool’s legends and one of the Premier League’s most significant players.

However, he hasn’t been performing at his best this season, and with his contract situation, this summer may be the final chance for Liverpool to capitalize.

Unless there’s a change in his form before the season ends, Liverpool might have a difficult decision to make.

It’s not just about age—he seems to be in need of a new environment. A transfer could benefit both Salah and Liverpool, allowing him a fresh start while enabling a new dynamic on the right side of the pitch.
