Curtis Jones drew transfer interest during the January 2026 window.
Tottenham Hotspur reportedly showed interest in the midfielder during that time.
Arne Slot also addressed rumors about Jones potentially moving to Inter Milan near the end of the window.
Ultimately, nothing happened, and Jones remained at Anfield, but there are ongoing concerns about his future there.
With 18 months left on his current contract, some scrutiny has arisen regarding Liverpool‘s handling of his situation.

On the Anfield Index podcast, journalist David Lynch expressed disappointment over the situation.
He noted that Liverpool seems to be struggling to meet Jones’ contract expectations.
Lynch said, “I think it’s quite unfortunate for Liverpool. He’s the only local player in the team and has been developed by the club since he was very young. Can’t they provide a contract that satisfies him?”
“He regularly contributes to the team. He’s genuinely valuable, not just taking up space.”
“It doesn’t seem like he is focused on signing a long-term contract. Liverpool may need to make a decision in the next year.”
Curtis Jones did not want to leave Liverpool
It is unfortunate because the 25-year-old had hoped to spend his entire career at Anfield.
In December 2025, he mentioned to Sky Sports, “I believe it’s important to stay humble, and I don’t want to claim, ‘Yeah, I’m going to be captain’ or anything like that. But I aspire to be captain. I want to remain here for my entire life, like the player I admire most, Gerrard.”
As it stands, it seems unlikely that Jones will stay at Liverpool beyond June 2027, when his current contract ends.
The club is focusing on new contracts for Dominik Szoboszlai and several other midfielders while unresolved issues with Jones linger.
