This season, Mohamed Salah has been a major talking point at Anfield. At one time, Jamie Carragher and others criticized him, labeling him as overrated and suggesting he was holding Liverpool back.

Despite being behind Arsenal in the Premier League, Liverpool is showing improvement, recently securing a significant 4-1 victory against Newcastle United at home.

Salah contributed to the win and matched midfielder Dominik Szoboszlai for the team lead in key passes, with three each.

Last season, Salah was a standout player in the Premier League and played a key role in Liverpool’s title win. Although he hasn’t been at the same level this season, his return to the starting lineup by manager Arne Slot has brought a noticeable impact on Liverpool’s performance.

However, Salah’s pace seems to have diminished. At 33, he shows signs of fatigue, struggling in one-on-one situations and finding it hard to dribble past defenders.

Even though he has been losing possession more frequently, his playmaking skills remain strong. His experience and technical talent continue to make him valuable to the team, highlighting the need for his presence, despite his recent struggles with speed and athleticism.
