Arne Slot is facing more scrutiny this season as Liverpool struggles to regain the form that earned them a league title last year.
Last season’s title was just the second in the club’s history, but this season has been challenging.
Liverpool is still looking for their first league win of 2026 as they prepare to host Newcastle United on Saturday evening. This poor start follows a run early this season where they lost nine out of twelve matches across all competitions.

An agent for a current Liverpool player has now come forward in support of the coach.
Speaking to the Daily Mail, the agent, who represents a notable member of the team but preferred to remain unnamed, expressed that Slot needs more time to shape the squad to his style.
“It’s madness. Slot is a very good coach trying to build a new team,” he said.
“He just needs some time. He is different from Klopp, but I don’t see how that’s a bad thing.”
Arne Slot can’t use time to build the squad as an excuse anymore
Liverpool spent over £400m in the summer transfer window, and earlier in the season, the argument that new players needed time to adjust was valid.
However, now that we are past the halfway point of the season, new players should be fully integrated. In fact, the new signings have been some of Liverpool’s top performers lately.
So far, only Alexander Isak has struggled, facing injuries and fitness issues this campaign. But Hugo Ekitike has stepped up, looking like a breakout star in the league.
With the team fully settled, there are no more excuses for not winning Premier League matches.
Arne Slot needs significant wins to regain support. A victory over Newcastle United could be just what he needs.
