When fit, Manchester United center back Matthijs de Ligt is among the top players in his role. However, he has been sidelined since December due to back problems, missing 15 matches because of this injury.

The positive news is that there is an update regarding De Ligt’s recovery. He is expected to return soon, with March being his target month for coming back to the team.

A report from Tyrone Marshall of the Manchester Evening News indicates that De Ligt is not rushing his recovery and is taking the necessary time to heal.

With Manchester United now competing for a spot in the Champions League under Michael Carrick, having their strongest defender back would greatly benefit their chances in the remainder of the season.

At 26 years old, De Ligt is in his prime, and his presence on the field has been missed. This season, he has made 13 starts, averaging 2.7 combined tackles and interceptions per game, along with 5.2 clearances and allowing only 0.5 dribbles.
