Manchester City Advances in League Cup
In the first leg of the League Cup semifinals, Manchester City defeated Newcastle United 2-0, keeping their hopes for the final alive. Antony Semenyo, who joined from Bournemouth for £65 million, scored again after making his debut. He netted the first goal for City in the 53rd minute, thanks to a brilliant cross from Jeremy Doku.
Semenyo became the first player to score in his first two matches for City since Emmanuel Adebayor. With this win, Manchester City is looking strong as they aim for a place in the final.
