Popular English club Manchester United announced good news ahead of the Community Shield match against the 2023-2024 Premier League champions Manchester City, Saturday (10/8).
Quoted from the club’s official website in Jakarta, Tuesday, the first positive news came from new recruit Leny Yoro who successfully underwent surgery on his leg injury.
“Yoro is currently undergoing rehabilitation and we expect the 18-year-old player to be fit in the next three months,” wrote Manchester United (MU) on its official website.
Then, MU also announced that its players who competed in the international competitions of the 2024 European Cup and the 2024 Copa America had returned to the Carrington training complex.
Kobbie Mainoo, Lisandro Martinez, Facundo Pellistri, and Luke Shaw arrived at MU headquarters in an uninjured condition.
Mainoo and Shaw led England to the Euro 2024 final, then Lisandro Martinez was a key player for Argentina who won the 2024 Copa America and Pellistri performed well for the Uruguay national team that reached the 2024 Copa America semi-finals.
Those names follow other MU players such as Altay Bayindir, Diogo Dalot, Bruno Fernandes, and Alejandro Garnacho who have set foot at Carrington.
In preparation for the Community Shield and other competitions including the Premier League, MU has played five trial matches, in which the “Red Devils” squad won over Rangers, Arsenal, Real Betis, and lost to Rosenborg and Liverpool.
