A Premier League manager has received a six-month driving ban after details of a legal case were disclosed this week.
Issues involving football personalities often make the news, especially concerning disciplinary actions outside the game.
Recently, Leny Yoro was also reported to have been given a six-month ban for a driving offence, demonstrating the impact of such matters on individuals in the sport.
Now, another notable figure in the Premier League is facing a similar situation.
The manager in question is Oliver Glasner, the current head coach of Crystal Palace.
According to The Independent, Glasner has been banned from driving for six months after being caught speeding in Bermondsey, London.
The Austrian manager was recorded driving his BMW at 29mph in a 20mph zone on Old Kent Road last July.
Court records indicated he had previous offences on his licence, leading to the automatic ban due to added penalty points.
The 51-year-old officially pleaded guilty to the offence in writing to Willesden Magistrates’ Court.
In a handwritten statement to the court, Glasner expressed regret and took full responsibility.
He stated, “I fully accept responsibility for my actions and understand the seriousness of this matter. I have taken steps to ensure that it will not happen again.”
Along with the ban, Glasner was fined £600, and ordered to pay £130 in court costs and a £264 victim surcharge, totaling over £1,000.
The case was brought forward by the Metropolitan Police under the Single Justice Procedure.
The punishment details were made public after court documents were accessed and reported this week, outlining the outcome for the Crystal Palace manager.
Despite the off-field incident, Glasner is concentrating on leading Crystal Palace through the end of their Premier League season.
