Manuel Neuer remains the top goalkeeper for Bayern Munich and plans to stay at the Allianz Arena for the long term. According to Kicker’s Georg Holzner, Neuer is currently assessing his future with Bayern. While the team is eager for him to play another season, Neuer will decide on his status for the 2026/27 season based on his physical condition.
Holzner also noted that Neuer has no interest in moving to Major League Soccer, Saudi Arabia, Turkey, or other leagues popular with retiring stars, like Bayern legend Thomas Muller, who recently joined the Vancouver Whitecaps.
Neuer’s aim is to retire at Bayern. If he feels he can’t maintain his physical performance, he might choose to retire from club football at the end of the season. Currently, he is playing well enough to fend off competition from Jonas Urbig, a promising talent who is making a strong case to succeed him. Neuer acknowledges Urbig’s potential, indicating that Bayern has found a special prospect for the future.
