Transfer talks in Europe are ongoing.
While political issues in Spain are gaining attention, preparations for next season continue steadily.
For Manchester United, this is important as a familiar name keeps appearing in discussions.
At Barcelona, sporting director Deco has been meeting with head coach Hansi Flick.
Recently, Deco also met with Marcus Rashford’s representatives, discussing various players, but the focus briefly shifted to the England international currently on loan from United.
This meeting was clearly initial, but both sides expressed a wish to keep a good working relationship moving forward.
Rashford’s future isn’t fully decided, but the direction is becoming more clear.
The 28-year-old is on loan at Barcelona until June, with the club having an option to buy him permanently for £25.7 million (€30 million).
Barcelona plans to use that option, as Flick and the sporting department are happy with his performance and adjustment so far.
From United’s view, there’s little interest in changing the fee or deal structure, meaning any permanent move must follow last summer’s agreement.
Barcelona understands this stance and acknowledges that reducing the price or changing payment terms is unlikely, even if they start discussions.
The expectation at Camp Nou is that the full £25.7 million (€30 million) will need to be paid as per the existing deal.
According to Marca, the goal remains for Marcus Rashford to officially join Barcelona in June, but until the paperwork is done, United holds leverage and options.
Rashford is reportedly settled in Spain and isn’t eager to return to Manchester, although he desires a more consistent starting position under Flick.
This season, he has played in 34 matches, starting 20 of them, and has scored 10 goals along with 13 assists.
These stats, along with his adjustment off the field, have reinforced Barcelona’s belief that making the move permanent is a smart decision.
Despite this confidence, both clubs recognize that the deal isn’t finalized and more meetings will happen in the coming months.
