Matheus Cunha has discussed his relationship with Manchester United‘s interim head coach, Michael Carrick, and noted some changes at the club.

The 26-year-old Brazilian forward has scored six goals and provided two assists in his first season at Old Trafford after transferring from Wolves last summer.

As the 2025-26 season progresses, Cunha’s confidence has visibly increased, making him a vital part of Manchester United’s attack.

Carrick did not start Cunha in his first two matches as manager, choosing to go with other players in the forward line. This meant the Brazilian had to wait for another chance to impress the new coach.

In those games against Manchester City and Arsenal, Carrick opted for Danish wing-back Patrick Dorgu on the left wing, believing he was a better tactical fit at the time.

Cunha returned to the starting lineup after Dorgu was injured, allowing him to showcase his skills under Carrick’s guidance.
