Often seen as one of the greatest football players in history, Messi continues to receive admiration across different sports. Verstappen, a multiple-time Formula 1 world champion, reflects this appreciation.

In a feature on Red Bull Racing’s Instagram, Verstappen explained why Messi’s attributes set him apart from other players.
The four-time F1 champion stated: “He [Messi] can read the game. Many players rely on speed and movement to score. He can score from anywhere. You think you can defend him, but you can’t. He will score when you give him a chance.”
Verstappen referred to a moment in the 2022 World Cup against the Netherlands, when Messi made an impressive pass to Nahuel Molina, leading to Argentina’s first goal in their 2-2 draw.
He believes that assist demonstrates how challenging it is to defend against Messi. “Like the ball he played against Holland, it’s just… you can’t defend that,” he concluded.

Argentina faced challenges against Mauritania, but Messi rebounded by scoring and playing the full match in a win over Zambia.
Back with Inter Miami, he also scored in a 2-2 draw against Austin, proving his readiness for football’s top tournament.
