Manchester United manager Michael Carrick is looking to optimize the performances of Patrick Dorgu and Lisandro Martinez. He will begin working with Martinez soon, but noted that Dorgu’s recovery will take longer.

This Sunday, Manchester United will take on a challenging Crystal Palace team at Old Trafford. In a pre-match press conference, Carrick indicated that there is a chance Martinez could participate in the game.

Regarding the injuries, Carrick shared, “Patrick [Dorgu] will need a few more weeks to recover, but he is making good progress. Licha [Lisandro Martinez] is closer to returning than Patrick. It will only be a few days. We will assess the situation soon.”

Martinez has made a strong recovery from his torn ACL and has been an important player for Manchester United this season, especially highlighted in the recent 2-0 victory against Tottenham Hotspur. He has been sidelined since the match against West Ham United, but if he is indeed days away from returning, he could be available for the match against Palace, depending on his training results.

Dorgu has emerged as a key player under Carrick, excelling in a forward position as a left winger, a shift from his previous role as a left wing-back under Ruben Amorim.

With Carrick in charge, Dorgu has been able to play with more freedom, showcasing his skills in ball progression and recording more tackles per game.

Having Dorgu back will greatly enhance Manchester United’s squad depth and defensive capabilities, though he may not be ready until after the March international break.
