Michael Carrick is doing well as Manchester United’s caretaker manager, leading the team on an impressive run.
The former United midfielder stepped in after Ruben Amorim was dismissed and has now achieved a seven-game unbeaten streak.
He has secured victories against Manchester City, Arsenal, Fulham, Tottenham Hotspur, Everton, and Crystal Palace, with the only match without a win being a draw against West Ham United.
This performance keeps The Red Devils in the hunt for a Champions League spot, which is crucial for their financial situation.
Currently, Carrick’s appointment is until the season’s end, with plans to bring in a top manager in the summer.
However, Samuel Luckhurst has reported that Carrick is not just thinking about the immediate future.
The caretaker manager mentioned, “it’s my responsibility, however long I’m here, to make decisions that are the best for the football club in the long term.”
This statement indicates he is considering plans beyond just this season.
Luckhurst also noted that Carrick recognizes the need for United to possibly sign a left-winger in the upcoming summer, in addition to focusing on midfield reinforcements.
For now, the 44-year-old is fully focused on the match against Newcastle United tomorrow night, aiming to keep the winning streak alive.
If Carrick continues this successful run with The Red Devils, it seems likely he could be given the permanent manager position next season.
