Michael Carrick is doing well as Manchester United’s caretaker manager, leading the team effectively.
He stepped in after Ruben Amorim was let go and has since kept the team unbeaten for seven matches.
Carrick has secured victories against Manchester City, Arsenal, Fulham, Tottenham Hotspur, Everton, and Crystal Palace, with the only draw coming against West Ham United.
The Red Devils are now in contention for a Champions League spot, which is crucial for the club’s finances.
Carrick’s current role lasts until the end of the season, as the club aims to hire a permanent manager in the summer.
However, Samuel Luckhurst has reported on X that Carrick is planning beyond this season.
According to him, Carrick mentioned, “it’s my responsibility, however long I’m here, to make decisions that are the best for the football club in the long term.”
While this doesn’t confirm future plans, it indicates he’s not solely focused on the present.
Luckhurst also noted that Carrick understands United may need to sign a left-winger in the summer alongside strengthening the midfield.
For now, Carrick is concentrating on the upcoming match against Newcastle United, looking to extend the winning streak.
If Carrick continues his successful run, it’s likely he could become the permanent manager next season.
