Mohamed Salah will leave Liverpool at the end of the 2025-26 season, as reported by Fabrizio Romano. Salah, who is 33 years old, will join a new team for the 2026-27 season after nine years with the Premier League club.
Liverpool confirmed his departure in a statement: “Mohamed Salah will conclude his remarkable career with Liverpool FC after the 2025-26 season. The forward has reached an agreement with the club, marking the end of his nine-year journey at Anfield.”
“Salah wanted to share this news with the supporters as soon as possible, showing his respect and gratitude towards them.”
Salah joined Liverpool before the 2017-18 season after a successful two-year period at Roma. He made a significant impact that season, contributing 42 goals (32 goals and 10 assists).
As one of the top wingers of his generation, Salah helped Liverpool secure the UEFA Champions League title in 2018-19, the club’s first since 2004-05. The next season, he led Liverpool to its first-ever Premier League title, and the club added another Premier League title in the 2024-25 season.
“We achieved the most important trophies together. We supported each other through hard times,” Salah stated. “I want to thank everyone involved with the club during my time here, especially my teammates and fans. I appreciate the support you’ve given me during the best and toughest times of my career.”
Mohamed Salah set to move on, searching for new club for 2026-27
Recently, Salah’s future at Liverpool seemed uncertain. He experienced a dip in performance at the start of the 2025-26 season and was benched by manager Arne Slot. Salah publicly expressed his concerns about their relationship and felt the club had let him down.
He returned to the starting lineup in January and has played in 34 matches (29 starts) this season. Salah has recorded 10 goals and nine assists, a year after winning his second Premier League Player of the Season Award.
Salah has scored 255 goals in 435 appearances for Liverpool, placing him third on the club’s all-time scoring list, behind Ian Rush (346) and Roger Hunt (285).
“Leaving is difficult. You gave me unforgettable moments. I will always consider myself part of you,” Salah remarked. “This club will always feel like home to me and my family. Thank you for everything. Because of you, I will never walk alone.”
