Mohan Bagan Faces Heavy Penalties from AFC
Indian football club Mohan Bagan has been sanctioned by the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) following a serious incident. The team refused to travel to Iran for a match against Sepahan SC, leading to their ineligibility for the next two AFC club competitions until the 2027/28 season. The players cited security concerns as the reason for not making the trip.
In addition to the ban, the club is required to pay a fine of $50,000 and compensate Sepahan SC with $50,729. Furthermore, the team has been discharged from the tournament due to their actions.
