Liam Rosenior has been in charge for just over a month, and early results indicate Chelsea made a solid choice.
When Rosenior took over, Chelsea hadn’t won a league match in a month. Enzo Maresca’s time at the club had become unstable, affected by public remarks and a growing list of injuries.
Since the 2-1 loss to Fulham, Rosenior has led Chelsea to eight wins in 11 matches in all competitions. The team is back in the top-four ranking and has reached the Champions League knockout stage.
The only losses came against Arsenal—a 3-2 defeat at home and another close loss in the Carabao Cup second leg, where Chelsea struggled to catch up after a late goal from Kai Havertz. Overall, his start has been encouraging.

Rosenior has made it a point to hold regular meetings with players. He even humorously mentioned that Joao Pedro might be tired of visiting his office due to their frequent discussions.
Moises Caicedo shared that he had a meeting with Rosenior on his first day. That conversation had a significant impact, as Caicedo has been performing at a high level since then.
“On my first day, I met with him. We talked about my game because he had watched many matches, especially my performances. He wants to help me become a better player,” Caicedo said.
“It’s great to hear because it motivates me to keep improving. He wants the best for me, and I’m trying every day to show why he thinks I’m among the best.”
Claude Makelele on Moises Caicedo
Claude Makelele was an essential player during Jose Mourinho’s era at Chelsea, often working behind the scenes to support defenders and help advance the play.
This role is typical of seasoned players who still bring significant intelligence to the game, even as their physical skills may diminish.
The term “Makelele role” emerged due to his influence, but Makelele now believes Caicedo deserves the honor of the role bearing his name.
“I think it should be called the ‘Caicedo role’ now. I admire Caicedo. He is humble and dedicated. I talked to him before he joined Chelsea, and he told me I looked up to him,” Makelele said last summer.
As they look ahead, Caicedo and his team will be preparing for their next match against Burnley. Paul Merson believes it’s a crucial game for Chelsea, predicting a 3-0 win, especially with tough matches coming up.
