Newcastle United refutes Arsenal interest

Newcastle United has firmly denied any approach from Arsenal for Sandro Tonali, calling the reports unfounded.

The club described claims of a last-minute bid as “stupid” and “complete rubbish,” stating clearly that Tonali is not for sale.

This speculation began with Sky Sport in Germany, which reported that Arsenal’s interest was tied to a foot injury to Mikel Merino.

However, Newcastle emphasized that Tonali is an essential part of Eddie Howe’s strategy and will not be sold during this transfer window.

Sandro Tonali’s contract status

Tonali is under a long-term contract with Newcastle United, and there are no signs indicating his future is in question.

Sources close to the club have confirmed that there has been no communication from Arsenal, and Newcastle is confident that no other domestic team can persuade them to change their mind.

His contract extends until 2029, following an extension agreed during his suspension, giving Newcastle a strong position in negotiations.

With no intention to sell, Newcastle expects Tonali to remain a vital member of their squad after the current transfer window closes.
