Orlando City SC is in “advanced talks” to sign French forward Antoine Griezmann from Atletico Madrid, according to The Athletic.
The MLS team has an open designated player spot and has identified Griezmann, 34, as their main target. Director and general manager Ricardo Moreira has made several trips to Spain to negotiate the deal.
Griezmann, a 2018 World Cup champion and two-time Ballon d’Or finalist, has shown interest in American sports and culture and has been associated with a move to MLS for some time. While other teams are interested, Orlando holds his MLS discovery rights.
The current signing window in MLS continues until March 26.
Orlando City started the 2026 regular season with a 2-1 home defeat against the New York Red Bulls on Saturday.
Griezmann has scored 44 goals in 137 matches for France from 2014 to 2024. He has spent his entire professional career in Spain’s La Liga, playing for Atletico Madrid, FC Barcelona, and Real Sociedad, with over 200 goals and 50 assists in nearly 600 matches.
