Petar Musa scored twice on Saturday night, including the game-winning goal in the 74th minute, leading FC Dallas to a 3-2 victory over Toronto FC in their MLS opener in Frisco, Texas.

The decisive goal came after Toronto failed to clear the ball. Logan Farrington received the ball on the left wing and delivered a perfect cross to Musa, who headed it into the net past goalkeeper Luka Gavran.

Farrington also scored for Dallas, which matched Toronto’s total of 13 shots but capitalized on its three shots on target. Djordje Mihailovic and Derrick Etienne Jr. found the net for Toronto, which registered seven shots on target.

Farrington gave Dallas a 2-1 lead just before halftime in the 38th minute. He won an aerial duel against two defenders, dribbled to find space, and placed the ball into the right corner.

This lead was equalized in the 67th minute when Etienne scored off a rebound from Michael Collodi’s save, flicking the ball over the diving goalkeeper. However, Musa, who scored a team-high 18 goals last season, secured the win for Dallas.

After a playoff appearance last year, Dallas retained most of its players, with Collodi stepping in as the starting goalkeeper after Maarten Paes returned to the Netherlands. Toronto made a significant addition by acquiring defender Walker Zimmerman from Nashville, having struggled last season with only six wins out of 34 matches.

Musa opened the scoring just nine minutes into the game, receiving a pass from Osaze Urhoghide and beating Gavran. Toronto equalized in the 15th minute when Mihailovic converted a pass from Jonathan Osorio with a shot into the right corner.

Collodi made five saves for Dallas.
