Chelsea fans were surprised to see Filip Jorgensen start over Robert Sanchez in the Premier League match against Aston Villa and in the Champions League Round of 16 against PSG.

Although Sanchez had made some notable errors, he had been performing well for most of the season. In contrast, Jorgensen had struggled earlier, losing his position due to poor performances.

During CBS Sports’ coverage of the Champions League, former Premier League goalkeeper Peter Schmeichel shared important information about Chelsea manager Liam Rosenior’s decision to promote Jorgensen to the starting position:

“My information is that Rosenior has directly informed Jorgensen that he is now the number one goalkeeper.”

This news has surprised Chelsea fans, but it reflects the trust Rosenior has placed in Jorgensen. Since joining the club, Rosenior has enhanced Chelsea’s overall performance, and many believe Jorgensen has more long-term potential.

Essentially, it seems Rosenior is committed to developing Jorgensen and is willing to support him through any challenges.
