Kannur: The Amul-organized Sports.com Super League saw a draw between Kannur Warriors FC and Malappuram FC, ending in a 2-2 tie. Heavy rain caused a delay of over an hour during the match. For Kannur, Muhammad Sinan and Nidal Sayyid scored, while Abdul Khaku and Aytur Aldlir netted for Malappuram. After seven rounds, both teams have 10 points. Malappuram ranks third based on goal difference, while Kannur is in fifth place.

The match began at Jawahar Municipal Stadium, with Malappuram’s Elforsy taking a corner in the seventh minute that Abdul Khaku headed just wide. Kannur’s captain, Lav Sambi, received a yellow card in the 24th minute for fouling Elforsy, who then wasted a great scoring chance shortly after.

Kannur scored in the 32nd minute. A pass from ASR Gomez found Kareem Samp, who crossed it for Muhammad Sinan to score with a diving header (1-0). Kannur’s Vikas also received a yellow card for bringing down John Kennedy. Malappuram equalized in the 44th minute with a header from Abdul Khaku off an Elforsy corner (1-1).

A corner kick led to a back-heel pass from Lav Sambi, allowing substitute Nidal Sayyid to score (2-2). The match was attended by 17,899 spectators.

On Friday (November 21), the next match of the eighth round will feature Thrissur Magic FC against Thiruvananthapuram Kompan’s FC at 7:30 PM at Thrissur Corporation Stadium.
