Real Madrid is facing significant issues within their squad that extend beyond discussions about player egos or their manager. The team has struggled to strengthen areas other than signing high-profile attackers like Kylian Mbappe in recent transfer windows.

This past summer, Los Blancos improved their defense by acquiring young left-back Alvaro Carreras and center-back Dean Huijsen from Bournemouth. However, these additions have not been enough.

Real Madrid still needs more reinforcement at center-back. Although they previously showed strong interest in Liverpool‘s Ibrahima Konate, they stepped back after observing his inconsistent performances.

Recently, Konate has regained his form. With Dayot Upamecano staying at Bayern Munich and Marc Guehi joining Manchester City in the winter transfer window, Real Madrid’s best remaining option is Konate.

As reported by Matteo Moretto of MARCA, Real Madrid has revived its interest in Ibrahima Konate and has started discussions with the player’s agent.

Signing Konate would enhance the squad, providing a strong alternative to Antonio Rudiger. He would team up with Eder Militao and Huijsen as the top three center-backs. Given Militao’s injury issues, Konate would likely become a regular starter, filling in for both Huijsen and Militao when needed.
