Liverpool has yet to confirm the signing of Jeremy Jacquet from Rennes.

A move for the centre-back will likely be completed soon as the winter transfer window comes to a close.

While Chelsea had shown interest in Jacquet, he is now expected to join Liverpool instead.

Jamie Redknapp supports the acquisition, and Jamie Carragher believes Liverpool needs a defender ready to play immediately.

Jacquet will continue to play in France this season and will officially join Liverpool in June 2026.

Though the deal isn’t finalized, Rennes manager Habib Beye has provided updates to Le Telegramme.

He mentioned, “This deal is not done; I cannot comment on something that is not confirmed.”

“He won’t be participating in today’s training. We’re unsure if he can play tomorrow, but we’ll see how it goes.”

Beye didn’t reveal many details about the transfer but suggested that the situation benefits all involved.

“Negotiating his transfer now while ensuring the club gets the desired amount, considering the player’s wishes, and keeping him for the end of the season might be the best outcome,” he noted.

How deal sheets work in transfer windows

Liverpool still has the opportunity to finalize the Jacquet signing even if it misses the 7pm deadline.

Deal sheets can allow clubs extra time to process transfers.

These sheets need to be completed after 5pm on Monday, during the last two hours of the window, and submitted by 7pm.

Once the Premier League gets the initial documents, clubs receive an additional two hours to finalize the transfer paperwork.
