Matt Turner made five saves for the Revolution, who achieved their second consecutive victory and have won all three of their home games by a combined score of 10-1.
Turner kept a clean sheet for the second straight game, making a crucial save in the second minute of stoppage time against Joao Peglow’s shot.
With this win, the Revolution (3-3-0, 9 points) moved ahead of D.C. United (2-4-1, 7 points) in the MLS Eastern Conference standings.
D.C. United has now lost two in a row and has not scored in their last three matches.
Sean Johnson recorded three saves for D.C. United, who played without top scorer Tai Baribo due to a thigh injury. Baribo has scored three of D.C.’s four goals, which is the lowest tally in MLS this season.
This defeat continued D.C. United’s struggles at New England, where they have won only once in 17 visits since 2013.
The Revolution took the lead when Will Sands chested a long cross from Carles Gil to Dor Turgeman. Turgeman then passed to Yusuf, who scored from 15 yards out in the box with a shot into the bottom right corner. This was Yusuf’s second goal of the season, with Turgeman and Sands providing assists.
D.C. United had its best chances early in the game, with Matti Peltola hitting the left post. Shortly after, Aaron Herrera shot wide from the right side of the box.
The Revolution controlled possession for much of the first half, while D.C. United played better after halftime but struggled to create quality chances. Overall, D.C. outshot New England 17-11 but managed only five shots on target.
Johnson’s standout save came in the 81st minute, tipping Turgeman’s header over the crossbar after a free kick from Griffin Yow.
The all-time series is now tied at 42 wins, 42 losses, and 17 draws.
