The former England defender, known for his strong insights as a pundit post-retirement, has commented as Neymar’s inclusion in the 2026 squad seems more doubtful.

Ferdinand expressed his views in a video on X, supporting Neymar’s comeback.

He mentioned that the World Cup is meant for players like Neymar, who can change the game with a single action.

The former Manchester United defender stated: “I can’t believe Neymar wasn’t picked. I saw him on social media expressing hope to work towards being included in the squad.”

“As a football enthusiast, I really hope Neymar is on the field during the World Cup. That’s what it’s all about—the iconic players creating memorable moments. I urge Carlo to bring Neymar back.”

His statement adds to the pressure on Ancelotti as he faces an important selection decision, but the coach seems unfazed by such comments.

Brazil’s defeat to France stirs Neymar conversation

Brazil’s recent 2-1 loss to France has reignited the debate.

The friendly, held at Gillette Stadium in the U.S., highlighted offensive challenges.

Vinicius Jr. and Raphinha, Brazil’s key players, struggled to make a meaningful impact during the game.

Their lackluster performances brought Neymar’s absence back into the spotlight.

With the World Cup approaching, doubts linger about whether Brazil can afford to leave out such an experienced and talented player.
