Robin van Persie has been on a path of growth since his departure from Manchester United.

After leaving United in 2025, he joined Fenerbahçe and played there for three years before moving to Feyenoord, where he eventually retired from playing.

After a five-year break from football, he transitioned into management, starting with a coaching role at Heerenveen.

In his time there, he managed 26 games, securing nine wins before heading to Feyenoord, where he currently coaches.

At Feyenoord, he has managed 44 matches, achieving 23 victories and averaging 1.7 points per game.

Additionally, he has had the chance to coach his son, Shaqueel van Persie, who made his professional debut for Feyenoord late last year.

Earlier this month, Shaqueel scored his first professional goals, a significant achievement in his budding career.

However, he recently faced a major setback due to a knee injury sustained during a match against Real Betis in the UEFA Europa League.

Shaqueel came on in the 73rd minute but had to leave the field just 12 minutes later after landing awkwardly in an aerial challenge.

He immediately clutched his knee in pain and was treated by medical staff before being stretchered off.

Regarding the injury, Robin van Persie said, “It’s not looking good. Tests will determine his condition, but the early signs are concerning.

“You worry when any player gets injured, and it’s especially tough when it’s Shaqueel today.”

“You always hope for the best, but when the initial signs show otherwise, it’s heart-wrenching.”

The match ended 2-1 in favor of Real Betis, leaving Feyenoord with a slim chance of qualifying for the Europa League’s last 16 through the playoffs.

Now, Feyenoord supporters will be looking for updates on when Shaqueel van Persie might return to play.
