Tottenham aimed to strengthen their attack in the winter transfer window.

Tottenham Hotspur signed only two players during the winter transfer window. Conor Gallagher and Souza joined the team, but Thomas Frank needed additional support from the Lewis Family.

With the sale of Brennan Johnson to Crystal Palace and injuries to Mohammed Kudus and Richarlison, the Lilywhites prioritized finding a forward. Last week, Thomas Frank mentioned that they considered Antoine Semenyo from Bournemouth, but he opted to join Manchester City.

Jhon Duran was also linked to Spurs. The centre-forward is on loan at Fenerbahce from Al-Nassr. Although he played only 10 league matches for Fenerbahce, he helped them win the Turkish Super Cup against Galatasaray last month.

After facing difficulties in Istanbul, there were discussions about a potential return to England. However, those plans did not go through, and Duran is now set to move elsewhere.

Fabrizio Romano reports Tottenham had a chance to sign Jhon Duran on loan

Duran is close to joining Zenit St Petersburg after ending his loan at Fenerbahce. At just 22, this will be his sixth club, having already played for Envigado, Chicago Fire, Aston Villa, Al-Nassr, and Fenerbahce.

Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano disclosed that Tottenham had the chance to sign Duran on loan on deadline day. However, they chose to pass on the opportunity.

“Jhon Duran was offered to Tottenham on deadline day. He had the chance to join on loan, but Tottenham decided against this move,” Fabrizio Romano said on his YouTube channel.

“Tottenham chose to stay with their current squad.”
