Manchester United has faced challenges both on and off the field in recent years. Following the appointment of Michael Carrick, expectations were low. However, Carrick has led the team to fourth place in the Premier League, achieving five wins and one draw in his six matches. Their latest win was a hard-fought 1-0 victory against Everton at Hill Dickinson Stadium. After the match, goalkeeper Senne Lammens spoke with Sky Sports, sharing insights into the team’s success.

Lammens Discusses Key Factors for Manchester United
United faced an early scare when a clearance from Lammens was blocked, but it resulted in a goal kick.
The Red Devils responded effectively and showed promise in their attacks, particularly with Bryan Mbeumo involved. Yet, the away team had difficulty creating clear chances against Everton, who only managed their first shot on goal in the 39th minute.
Lammens was rarely troubled during the first half, which ended in a goalless draw, reflective of the play.
Everton started the second half strongly, putting Lammens under early pressure. In the 57th minute, Carrick made a tactical change, bringing on Benjamin Sesko to strengthen their offense. Everton continued to apply pressure and looked more threatening in the second half.
United struggled to create clear opportunities until Cunha delivered a precise cross-field pass to Mbeumo, who set up Sesko for a well-taken goal to give his team the lead.
Everton pressed for an equalizer with Idrissa Gueye and Michael Keane both testing Lammens. Keane’s shot forced Lammens to tip it over the bar, while Sesko missed a chance to double the lead, as Jordan Pickford made a crucial save. Everton left the field feeling hard done after the loss.
Senne Lammens on the Key to Victory for Manchester United
In his post-match interview with Sky Sports, Lammens commented on the factors that contributed to the team’s win:
“It was really about the hard work and teamwork in defense. We weren’t at our best and need to improve with the ball. However, when we defend well together and don’t concede, our attackers can create opportunities. A single moment can lead to a goal, and if we keep a clean sheet, we can win tough matches like this one.”
“Since the new manager arrived, our defense has been solid. We knew if we kept it at zero, we had a chance to score. It might not have been the prettiest win, but when the effort is there, sometimes those victories feel the best.”
