Tottenham is Struggling Under the Lewis Family, According to Simon Jordan.
Tottenham fans were thrilled nine months ago after their team won the Europa League final, marking the end of a 17-year wait for a major trophy. Many believed this victory would lead the club into a new era, helping them compete more effectively in the Premier League.
However, the past nine months have not lived up to those expectations. The Lewis family has shown little direction in managing the club. They made significant changes by dismissing Daniel Levy and appointing Vinai Venkatesham as the new CEO. Unfortunately, the decision to let Levy go seems to have backfired, as the team has struggled to secure key transfers recently.
Tottenham has won only two of their last 18 league matches, raising concerns about a potential relegation in the coming months—a scenario few anticipated at the season’s start. This situation highlights Levy’s understanding of the club’s dynamics, something the Lewis family hasn’t demonstrated since his exit.
Tottenham Might Improve Without the Lewis Family
In December, the Lewis family announced plans to support Thomas Frank in the transfer window by signing players to improve the team’s performance. Reports indicated that ENIC shareholders had allotted £150 million for January to bolster the squad. However, these promises did not lead to any significant acquisitions.
Simon Jordan has criticized the Lewis family, urging the club to sever ties with ENIC shareholders due to their unsatisfactory tenure. Speaking on talkSPORT, Jordan remarked,
“What you’re seeing now is the true face of Tottenham Hotspur. This is the real ownership, and this is what Daniel Levy has been blamed for. The true ownership is the Lewis family. To change the club’s culture, the ownership must change because the real ownership is with Lewis and his group.”
