On Valentine’s Day in Burbank, CA, Bash Boxing will host a boxing event streamed live on BashTV. A rising super flyweight fighter from Los Angeles, Steven Navarro, is set to compete in an eight-round match against Mario Hernandez (13-7-1, 4 KOs) as part of a card featuring 15 bouts.
At just 21 years old, Navarro (7-1, 5 KOs) quickly attracts attention with his engaging personality. He credits boxing for turning his life around while growing up in Los Angeles and has committed to the sport since the age of 11. He views boxing as an art form, continuously evolving each time he steps into the ring.
If dedication isn’t enough, his interest in classic cars and a mature perspective set him apart. “I’m a 200 percenter Mexican/American who loves old-school things,” Navarro shared. “I feel like I should have been born in the 1960s because of my passion for classic cars and fishing. On weekends, I enjoy being a vaquero with friends and embracing my Mexican roots. I also dedicate a lot of time to thinking about boxing.” When it comes to classic cars, he enjoys his 1970 GMC, but dreams of owning a Chevelle or Nova from the 1960s.
Since turning pro in April 2024, Navarro has fought five times that year and three times last year. His most recent match in November ended in a technical decision loss to Jesse Mendoza, which he views as a learning experience.
“It was three rounds,” Navarro explained. “After every fight, we review and adjust. Unfortunately, there weren’t many rounds to assess, reminding me of my amateur days. There are areas we can improve. I remind myself that boxing isn’t just a seasonal sport; it’s a lifestyle.”
As he trains for his upcoming fight in Burbank, with support from his father and the Wild Card Gym team, what can viewers expect from him in the ring?
They’ll see a fighter who enjoys every moment in the ring, someone who truly loves the sport. It’s an art to him.
