Kannur: The second phase of work has started at the Jawaharlal Stadium in Kannur, home to the Kerala Kannur Warriors Football Club. The aim is to prepare the stadium for the Super League matches. Currently, teams are working on leveling the ground with grass. The first phase is complete, and a special technical team from the Super League has inspected the stadium and expressed their satisfaction.
The clearing of surrounding trees has also begun. The technical team has requested the municipality to remove vehicles parked in the stadium, and they have received permission to do so. Club officials announced that the vehicles will be removed soon.
Work is ongoing to set up temporary lights, dressing rooms, medical rooms, media rooms, and special facilities for broadcasting. The Super League will kick off today (October 2, 2025) in Kozhikode. The Kannur Warriors will play their first match against the Thiruvananthapuram Companions at the Chandrashekaran Nair Stadium in Thiruvananthapuram on October 5.
