Thrissur: Amul has organized the Sports.Com Super League, and Thrissur Magic FC has secured a semifinal ticket. In the first match of the eighth round at the Corporation Stadium, Thrissur defeated Force Kochi FC by a single goal, following Calicut FC into the semifinals. Kevin Javier scored the crucial goal in the first half.

Thrissur has gathered 17 points from five wins and two draws in nine matches. Kochi, previously eliminated, secured only three points from their nine games.

In the 20th minute, Thrissur’s Francis Addo missed a chance, sending a shot over the crossbar. In the 27th minute, Thrissur scored as Colombian Kevin Javier converted Ivan Markovich’s pass (1-0). Kevin Javier received a yellow card shortly after for a foul on Kochi’s Enrique Lopez. Just before halftime, Thrissur’s Bibin Ajayan also saw yellow for a foul on Nijo Gilbert.

At the start of the second half, Kochi’s captain, Atmane, missed a chance when he received a long pass from Shriraj. In the 47th minute, Thrissur substituted Afzal and S.K. Fayas into the game.

Kochi had a golden opportunity in the 40th minute when Amos set up a chance for Nijo Gilbert, but he failed to convert. In the 75th minute, Afzal missed another chance to double the lead. Shortly after, Kochi’s Atmane hit the post with his shot. Both teams fought hard in the first half, leading to Thrissur’s 1-0 victory. The match was witnessed by 5,572 spectators.

On Friday (November 28), in the second match of the eighth round, Kannur Warriors FC will face Calicut FC. Kannur, currently fifth in the table, must win to keep their semifinal hopes alive, while Calicut has already secured a semifinal place. The match will kick off at 7:30 PM at Jawaharlal Stadium.
