Thrissur: The Amul Sports.com Super League in Kerala saw its second consecutive match end in a tie. In the first match of the eighth round, Thrissur Magic FC and Trivandrum Combs FC shared the points with a score of 1-1. Paulo Victor scored for Combs, while Faisal Ali netted for Thrissur. Thrissur is in second place on the table with 14 points from eight matches, while Combs is in third with 11 points.
Thrissur made five changes for their match at the Corporation Stadium. In the fifth minute, Trivandrum took the lead. A pass from Shafi was not cleared by Mohammad Jiyad, allowing Paulo Victor to score (1-0). This was the Brazilian’s second goal in the league.
Thrissur equalized in the sixteenth minute when Kevin Javier assisted Faisal Ali, who scored with a first-time touch (1-1).
In the twenty-sixth minute, Combs’ Ronald attempted a shot that sailed over the crossbar. Both teams failed to create planned moves towards the end of the first half.
In the second half, Combs substituted Muhammad Asher for Shafi. The referee showed a yellow card to Jasmin of Combs for tripping Kevin Javier. As the game approached the final thirty minutes, both teams made substitutions, bringing in players like Yadu Krishna and Bibin Boban for Combs, and Naveen Krishna and Umashankar for Thrissur.
In the thirty-third minute, a free-kick from Kevin Javier hit the Combs post but stayed out. Just seconds before the match ended, Ronald’s shot was saved by Thrissur goalkeeper Kamaluddin. In the earlier match held in Thiruvananthapuram, Thrissur had defeated Combs by one goal.
On Sunday, November 23, the second match of the eighth round features Kannur Warriors FC facing Force Kochi FC at 7:30 PM at Jawaharlal Stadium, Kannur.
