Sean Dyche is not very popular among Everton fans.

Dyche’s time at Everton ended negatively, with the team sinking into another relegation fight before David Moyes took over in January 2025.

His approach to football was often defensive, making it hard for some supporters to enjoy the matches.

Now coaching Nottingham Forest, Dyche deserves some acknowledgment for his work, as highlighted by Tony Bellew.

Bellew feels Dyche’s achievements during the 2023/24 season are often overlooked, especially since the team faced a points deduction yet still managed to remain in the Premier League.

“What Sean Dyche did at Everton with that 10-point deduction should not be ignored,” he said on The Good, The Bad & The Football podcast.

“To stay in the Premier League under those circumstances was incredible. I doubt any manager could have done better at that time.”

While Dyche handled early challenges well, his tactics eventually appeared to limit the team’s progress.

James Garner pointed out that it was difficult to grow under Dyche’s style, which might explain the improvement seen since Moyes has taken charge.

Dyche receives a warm welcome back to Everton

When Dyche returned to Hill Dickinson Stadium in December, he received a friendly welcome.

Many Everton fans applauded as he entered the stadium, though the atmosphere was different during the match at the City Ground.

After Thierno Barry’s winning goal, some fans were heard chanting: “You’re getting sacked in the morning.”

Opinions on Dyche are clearly mixed, especially with the positive changes occurring under Moyes.
