Thomas Frank finalizes his 25-man squad for Tottenham Hotspur’s Champions League knockout rounds

Thomas Frank has confirmed his 25-man squad for the Champions League knockout phases.

In January, Spurs secured a top-four finish in the league phase, outperforming top clubs like Paris Saint-Germain, Real Madrid, Barcelona, Manchester City, and Chelsea. They qualified for the last 16 by defeating Eintracht Frankfurt 2-0 away.

With the league phase concluded, Frank has made important decisions about his Champions League squad after the January transfer window.

Tottenham names new 25-man Champions League squad

According to Football London, Mathys Tel has been reinstated in the Champions League squad. Radu Dragusin and new signing Conor Gallagher have also been included. They replace Rodrigo Bentancur, Ben Davies, and Brennan Johnson.

Davies and Bentancur have faced potentially season-ending injuries, while Johnson was transferred to Crystal Palace at the beginning of the winter window. Davies suffered a broken ankle during the 2-1 home loss to West Ham last month, and Bentancur had a hamstring injury against Bournemouth. Both players have undergone surgery and are out for several months.

This situation has opened up spots in the 25-man roster for previously omitted players. Tel, whose loan from Bayern Munich became permanent last summer, was left out of the initial squad but was briefly recalled before being omitted again. This decision reportedly did not sit well with Tel and his representatives.

Dragusin, who was out for nearly nine months due to an ACL injury, made his first start for Tottenham last weekend against Manchester City. He has been included in the squad alongside Gallagher.

However, there is no space for Yves Bissouma or new signing Souza. Additionally, James Maddison and Dejan Kulusevski, who have missed the entire season due to serious knee injuries, are also not included. Taking all factors into account, Frank has aimed to assemble his strongest squad to advance as far as possible in the Champions League.
