Tottenham could receive a double injury boost ahead of the trip to Fulham.
Tottenham Hotspur started the post-Thomas Frank era with a 4-1 loss to Arsenal at home.
Supporters had hoped that Igor Tudor’s appointment as interim coach would bring a change, but that was not the case on Sunday. Instead, it was another tough day for them, mirroring their previous match at the Emirates Stadium as Arsenal scored four goals against a struggling Tottenham team.
The first half was closely contested, with the Spurs team equalizing at 1-1 after Randal Kolo Muani quickly responded to Eberechi Eze’s goal. However, Arsenal stepped up their game after halftime, with Eze scoring again and Viktor Gyokeres adding two more goals. This loss against their North London rivals left Tottenham just four points above the Premier League relegation zone.
Igor Tudor hopeful of having two defenders back from injury vs. Fulham
This match was Tudor’s first in charge. While his team performed poorly, he faced significant challenges with 12 players unavailable due to injuries or suspensions. Tudor noted after the match that the injury situation he took over is unlike anything he has faced in his coaching career.
However, Spurs might see a boost ahead of their game against Fulham. In the post-match press conference, Tudor expressed hope that Pedro Porro and Kevin Danso could return to the squad for the trip to Craven Cottage on Sunday.
“Yeah, probably [the] two of them [will return]. We hope. We’re going to see now what is best for the team,” Tudor stated, as reported by Football London.
With only 11 games left in the Premier League season, Tudor will need as many players fit as possible to meet his goals at Tottenham. The return of Porro and Danso would be crucial.
As an attacking full-back, Pedro offers technical skills and the ability to build play from the back, making him a valuable addition to the team. Danso has also shown his defensive capabilities while covering for both Romero and Van de Ven this season and last.
The return of these two defenders would be a big boost for Tudor and his coaching staff. While it may be challenging for either to start against Fulham, Tudor might consider some risks in the final three months with Premier League survival at stake.
