Tottenham will look to strengthen their defense this summer.
Tottenham Hotspur is facing significant issues in defense, which became evident during their recent Champions League match against Atletico Madrid.
The team is struggling to remain in the Premier League after a challenging season. Getting relegated would be a severe blow to a club with such a prestigious history. With the squad in crisis, changes are urgently needed after two poor domestic seasons.
As a result, several Tottenham players are rumored to be leaving, including Pedro Porro, who is attracting interest from Atletico Madrid for the summer. If Spurs do get relegated, Porro is likely to seek new opportunities. In light of this, club officials are already considering potential replacements for the Spanish defender.
Brentford right-back Michael Kayode is on Tottenham’s radar
As reported by the Italian outlet La Stampa, Tottenham is among multiple clubs keen on signing Brentford right-back Michael Kayode. Other interested teams include Arsenal, Manchester City, Chelsea, and Bundesliga club Borussia Dortmund.
This season, Kayode has been a standout player for Brentford, starting in nearly all of their 29 league matches. His contributions have been crucial as the team competes for a European spot, notably performing well in a recent 1-1 draw against Arsenal.
Andrea Ritorni, part of Kayode’s management team, spoke about the player’s desire to progress in his career. The 21-year-old, known for his powerful throw-ins, is valued at €35 million and is seen as a sought-after talent heading into the summer.
This isn’t the first time Tottenham has shown interest in Kayode; they looked into signing him in January, but Brentford chose not to sell their key player at that time. Despite their struggles, Tottenham’s interest in Kayode remains strong.
Currently valued at €30 million, Kayode’s market value could rise if he maintains his form. If he gets called up to the Italian squad for the World Cup, Tottenham may face challenges in recruiting him. Provided they stay in the Premier League, Spurs will likely pursue Kayode as a potential replacement for Porro, who is linked with Atletico Madrid.
