Tottenham must address their defensive issues with key players uncertain about their futures.
Igor Tudor has been brought in to stabilize the team after Thomas Frank’s exit, aiming to guide Tottenham Hotspur away from relegation threats.
Currently, Spurs are at risk of relegation from the Premier League, holding just 29 points from 27 matches and positioned 16th. They are only four points above the relegation zone, with a match against Fulham scheduled for Sunday.
As Tottenham fights against relegation, some players are considering moves away from the club. Cristian Romero’s future remains uncertain. The Argentine defender is serving a four-match suspension due to a red card at Old Trafford and has attracted interest from Atletico Madrid. His defensive partner, Micky van de Ven, is also being watched by Real Madrid as summer approaches.
While Spurs likely won’t part with both Romero and Van de Ven in a single transfer window, they appear to be thinking ahead.
Nottingham Forest values Murillo amid Tottenham’s interest
Reports from Brazilian media RTI Esporte state that Tottenham is among several clubs interested in Nottingham Forest defender Murillo. Chelsea and Manchester United are also looking at the Brazilian, who will only be sold if his €70m price tag is met this summer.
Interest in Murillo is heating up as the summer transfer window approaches. Despite Nottingham Forest’s struggles in the Premier League, currently sitting 17th just two points clear of relegation, Murillo has continued to perform well. If Forest goes down, the 23-year-old is expected to leave.
A left-footed centre-back, Murillo has gained a reputation as a reliable defender, making 28 appearances this season and scoring two goals. His talents are attracting attention from top clubs in England.
Murillo could replace Van de Ven
Speculation around Van de Ven’s future has grown recently, with the Netherlands international showing no inclination to sign a new contract with Tottenham. Given the club’s focus on avoiding relegation, discussions have been pushed to summer.
Van de Ven has been one of Spurs’ most important players this season, and he is keen to win trophies and regularly compete in the Champions League. Should he seek a transfer in the summer, Tottenham should consider signing Murillo as a suitable replacement.
Murillo’s left-footed style makes him a direct replacement for Van de Ven. He is strong, skilled in the air, and technically proficient, adding much-needed depth to Tottenham’s defense. Additionally, his leadership qualities would significantly benefit the team.
However, Tottenham must be prepared to meet Nottingham Forest’s high asking price if they truly want to secure Murillo. Without the allure of European competition, convincing the 23-year-old to join could be a challenge.
