Turkish club plans to sign Tottenham star this summer.
Tottenham Hotspur is currently focused on staying in the Premier League. As they approach Thursday’s London derby against Crystal Palace, Spurs are sitting 16th in the standings and looking to avoid relegation under interim manager Igor Tudor.
Whether they remain in the Premier League or drop to a lower league, significant changes to the Tottenham squad are expected next season. Relegation would require a complete overhaul of the team, as many players may not want to spend a year in the Championship. The ongoing injury issues at White Hart Lane have highlighted the team’s lack of depth, making summer recruitment essential.
During this challenging time, several players are being linked with moves away from the club. Cristian Romero and Micky van de Ven are among the most mentioned names, as both have garnered interest from La Liga ahead of the summer transfer window.
Pape Matar Sarr wanted by Fenerbahce
According to a report from Africa Foot, Fenerbahce is preparing to pursue Tottenham midfielder Pape Matar Sarr. The Senegalese international has emerged as a priority target for the Turkish side ahead of the upcoming transfer window.
Last summer, Fenerbahce attempted to sign Yves Bissouma from Spurs, but the deal did not go through. Now, they are focusing on adding Bissouma’s teammate to strengthen their midfield for the 2026/27 season. However, they may face competition from Galatasaray, who have approached Sarr’s representatives.
Sarr has been with Tottenham since joining from FC Metz in 2022. Over three seasons, he has become an important player, scoring 11 goals and providing 10 assists in 132 appearances. He played a key role in the club’s Europa League victory last season, assisting in the final against Manchester United.
With a contract running until 2030, Tottenham is not eager to let Sarr go. His work ethic and playing style make him a valuable asset. However, if the club decides to sell him, they would likely receive a good transfer fee, especially if they drop to the Championship. If Spurs manage to stay up, they should work to keep Sarr.
At 23, Sarr is still young with plenty of potential for growth. Selling him after just one difficult season would not be wise, although he might consider transferring to Fenerbahce or Galatasaray for a chance to play in the Champions League.
