The Philadelphia Union announced a new contract for homegrown defender Nathan Harriel on Wednesday.
The 24-year-old player for the U.S. Men’s National Team will remain with the team until 2028-29, with an option for 2029-30.
Interim sporting director Jon Scheer commented, “Nate has become a key part of our defense over the last five years. His adaptability, competitiveness, and commitment have been crucial to our success. We’re excited about his ongoing contributions and leadership in the future.”
Since his MLS debut with Philadelphia in 2021, Harriel has scored six goals and provided six assists in 115 regular-season matches, with 96 of those being starts. This season, he leads the league with 17 interceptions.
On the international stage, Harriel debuted for the USMNT in 2025 and played in three friendlies against Turkey, Switzerland, and Japan.
