West Ham United secured a win at home in the English Premier League after 248 days, defeating Newcastle United 3-1. This marks their first victory since May 2024, following a series of losses. Under new manager Nuno Espírito Santo, it was also his first win with the team. This is only their second league win this season. West Ham started poorly, conceding a goal in the fourth minute when Jacob Murphy scored from a counter-attack assisted by Bruno.

However, West Ham responded strongly, creating multiple chances. In the 35th minute, they equalized with a powerful shot from Lucas Paquetá, set up by Fernandes. Just before half-time, a cross from Wan-Bissaka was accidentally turned into an own goal by Botman, putting West Ham ahead. In the second half, Newcastle struggled to create opportunities, and a goal from Souček was ruled offside. In the closing moments, a counter-attack saw Thomas Souček score after the ball deflected off Pope, securing the win for West Ham. Newcastle now sits in 13th place following this loss.
