Arsenal‘s 24-year-old French defender William Saliba has signed a new long-term contract with the club. Although his previous contract still had two years remaining, he has signed a new five-year deal, keeping him with Arsenal until 2030. This decision comes despite ongoing interest from Real Madrid. Saliba joined Arsenal in 2019 from French club Saint-Étienne when he was just 19 years old and has spent the last two years on loan at Nice and Marseille.

After returning to Arsenal in 2022, Saliba formed a solid defensive partnership with Gabriel, earning recognition as one of the best center-backs in the world. This defense is considered one of Arsenal’s key strengths as they aim to reclaim the Premier League title after three years. Saliba has already played in 14 competitive matches this season and expressed happiness about renewing his contract, stating that the club feels like home. Following Saliba’s new deal, Arsenal’s sporting director Edu is expected to work on new contracts for fellow stars Bukayo Saka and others.
