Wolverhampton Wanderers are facing the serious possibility of being relegated to the Championship, as they currently sit at the bottom of the Premier League with only eight points from 24 matches this season.

The team has managed just one win and suffered 18 losses, resulting in their difficult position.

As the transfer window nears its end, the club may seek late signings to strengthen their squad and improve their chances of avoiding relegation in the remaining months of the season.

So far this month, Wolves have not made any signings, making the closing days of the window crucial for bolstering their team.

Recently, the club announced the signing of Marseille midfielder Angel Gomes on loan, with an option to make the deal permanent at the season’s end.

The club stated on their website: “England international Angel Gomes has joined Wolves on loan for the remainder of the 2025/26 season.”

The statement added: “The 25-year-old returns to the Premier League after a stint at Ligue 1 side Marseille, where he made 20 appearances and scored four goals.”

In his first comments as a Wolves player, Gomes expressed his reasons for joining the team, saying, “Working under the manager Rob attracted me.”

He continued, “I’ve known him for a while, and you can see the positive spirit he has brought to the team.”

“It was important for me to find a place where I could be part of a team with a goal.”

“He was an assistant with the England under-20s, and we connected well. He supported me during a tough time at my previous club.”

“Beyond being a coach, he’s a great person, and I’m excited to work with him. You can see how he has changed the atmosphere here, and it’s thrilling.”

“I was young when I debuted at United, so I have learned a lot about the game. It’s exciting to be back in the Premier League.”

“Being around top players with England has taught me a lot.”

“Now, I’ll aim to show my abilities and be a positive addition to the team in every way possible.”

This signing follows earlier reports linking Gomes to Wolves this month.

Gomes previously came up through the Manchester United academy and made ten appearances for the first team. He now returns to the Premier League, hoping to make an impact for Wolves in the season’s final weeks.
