Here’s a look at the potential Dutch lineup:
1. Ozzie Albies (IF) – S/R
Albies has been a key leadoff hitter since joining the majors. Despite some recent struggles, his impressive performances are notable. A three-time All-Star, Albies brings strong on-base skills, speed, and some power to the top of the order.
2. Jurickson Profar (OF) – S/R
Profar, once a top prospect and Little League World Series star, has had an unpredictable career. However, in the last two seasons, he has shown considerable hitting ability. After a PED suspension in 2025, he still maintained a 130 OPS+. He is expected to make an impact at the top of the Netherlands’ lineup.
3. Xander Bogaerts (IF) – R/R
Bogaerts is one of the most accomplished players on the team. Despite not matching his peak performance since signing with San Diego, he remains a powerful hitter. Fans can expect him to perform well in the WBC.
4. Ceddanne Rafaela (OF) – R/R
Rafaela’s position in the lineup is hard to determine. He had a 4.7 bWAR last season, primarily due to his defense, with a 91 wRC+. While he can be inconsistent at the plate, he has excelled in clutch situations, which could be crucial for the WBC.
5. Didi Gregorius (IF) – L/R
The former Yankees player returns for another WBC. Although he hasn’t played since 2022, he has been active in the Mexican League. Even though his batting may not be at its peak, he can still provide valuable contributions during the tournament.
6. Druw Jones (OF) – R/R
Jones is one of the more interesting players to watch. After being drafted second overall in 2022, he has had a mixed experience in the minor leagues. He only exceeded a .700 OPS once in three seasons, but he has great potential if he performs well on the international stage.
7. Chadwick Tromp (C) – R/R
Tromp has mostly been a backup catcher in the majors for six seasons. His limited MLB performance makes it difficult to gauge his hitting ability. However, he stood out in the 2023 WBC, hitting a home run and driving in runs across four games.
8. Juremi Profar (1B/DH) – R/R
Juremi has no WBC experience and has spent six years in the minor leagues. He has shown decent power in independent and international leagues, hitting 14 home runs in 93 Frontier League games in 2023. He may not be the biggest threat in the lineup, but he can definitely hold his own.
9. Sharlon Schoop (1B/DH) – R/R
At nearly 39, Schoop brings experience to the roster as a three-time WBC participant. With 13 years in the minor leagues, he will help set the tone for the Dutch lineup. Throughout his career, he has focused on making contact and has improved his on-base percentage in recent seasons.
